Future Dental Assistant Character & Leadership Scholarship Program

Ellis Co. Dental Assisting Program is committed to supporting future dental assistants who demonstrate outstanding character, meaningful career goals, personal responsibility, and a strong moral compass.

The Future Dental Assistant Character & Leadership Scholarship was established to recognize individuals who show the potential to become compassionate, ethical, dependable, and professional members of the dental community.

We believe that becoming an exceptional dental assistant requires more than learning clinical skills. It requires integrity, accountability, compassion, professionalism, perseverance, and a genuine desire to serve others.

Through this scholarship program, Ellis Co. Dental Assisting Program seeks to invest in future dental professionals who demonstrate these qualities and are committed to making a positive impact on their patients, dental teams, and communities.

Scholarship Award

Ellis Co. Dental Assisting Program may award up to ten (10) scholarships per calendar year.

Each scholarship recipient will receive:

$1,000 Tuition Scholarship

The scholarship will be applied directly toward the recipient’s tuition balance at Ellis Co. Dental Assisting Program.

The scholarship:

  • Has no cash value.
  • Cannot be exchanged or redeemed for cash.
  • Cannot be transferred to another individual.
  • Cannot be applied toward expenses other than eligible program tuition.
  • Cannot result in a cash refund or credit balance being paid to the student.
  • Is subject to the recipient meeting all enrollment and scholarship requirements.

Scholarships are limited to a maximum of ten (10) recipients per calendar year. The availability of scholarships does not guarantee that all ten scholarships will be awarded.

Applicant Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be interested in pursuing a career as a dental assistant.
  • Apply for admission to Ellis Co. Dental Assisting Program.
  • Meet all applicable program admission requirements.
  • Demonstrate outstanding personal character and integrity.
  • Demonstrate clear educational and career goals.
  • Show personal responsibility, dependability, and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate a strong moral compass and commitment to ethical behavior.
  • Complete the scholarship application and all required supporting materials.
  • Participate in a scholarship interview if requested.

Scholarship Selection Criteria

Scholarship recipients will be selected based on the overall strength of their application.

Consideration may include:

Character and Integrity
The applicant demonstrates honesty, accountability, respect for others, and the ability to make responsible decisions.

Career Goals
The applicant demonstrates clear goals and a genuine interest in becoming a dental assistant and contributing positively to the dental profession.

Work Ethic and Personal Responsibility
The applicant demonstrates dependability, perseverance, motivation, and a willingness to work toward personal and professional success.

Compassion and Service
The applicant demonstrates kindness, empathy, respect, and a desire to help others.

Professional Potential
The applicant demonstrates qualities that align with the expectations of the dental profession, including communication, teamwork, professionalism, and ethical conduct.

Scholarship Essay and Interview
The applicant thoughtfully communicates their experiences, values, goals, and reasons for pursuing a career in dental assisting.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a completed scholarship application that includes:

  • Applicant contact information.
  • Educational and employment background.
  • Personal and professional goals.
  • Community service, volunteer activities, leadership experience, or other relevant involvement.
  • A written scholarship essay.
  • Any additional documentation requested by the Scholarship Selection Committee.

Scholarship Essay

Applicants must submit an essay addressing the following:

“What does having strong character and a moral compass mean to you, and how will your personal values, experiences, and future goals help you become an exceptional dental assistant?”

The essay should also explain:

  • Why the applicant wants to become a dental assistant.
  • The applicant’s short-term and long-term career goals.
  • A personal experience that demonstrates integrity, perseverance, compassion, or responsibility.
  • How the applicant plans to positively impact patients and the dental profession.

Scholarship Interview

Finalists may be invited to participate in an interview with representatives of Ellis Co. Dental Assisting Program.

The interview may evaluate the applicant’s:

  • Communication skills.
  • Professionalism
  • Career motivation.
  • Personal values.
  • Understanding of the dental assisting profession.
  • Commitment to completing the program.
  • Overall alignment with the purpose and values of the scholarship.

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by representatives designated by Ellis Co. Dental Assisting Program.

Scholarship decisions will be based on the totality of the applicant’s application, essay, references, interview, and demonstrated alignment with the purpose of the scholarship program.

All scholarship decisions are final.

Ellis Co. Dental Assisting Program reserves the right to decline to award a scholarship if applicants do not sufficiently meet the scholarship criteria or do not achieve course completion.

Scholarship Acceptance Requirements

Selected recipients must:

  • Complete all required enrollment documentation.
  • Meet applicable admission requirements.
  • Sign the scholarship acceptance agreement.
  • Begin the program within the enrollment period specified in the scholarship award notice.
  • Maintain satisfactory (80 or higher) academic progress.
  • Maintain satisfactory (90% of classroom and 100% of extern hours) attendance.
  • Follow all student conduct, professionalism, and program policies.
  • Remain in good standing financially with Ellis Co. Dental Assisting Program.

Scholarship Acceptance Requirements

The $1,000 scholarship will be applied directly to the recipient’s eligible tuition balance.

The scholarship is an institutional tuition reduction and is not a cash award.

Recipients will not receive a check, cash payment, electronic payment, or other monetary distribution.

If a recipient withdraws, is dismissed, fails to enroll, or otherwise does not complete the program, the scholarship has no remaining cash value and will be handled in accordance with the recipient’s enrollment agreement, applicable school policies, and applicable laws and regulations.

Non-Transferability

Scholarships are awarded to individual recipients and may not be:

  • Transferred.
  • Sold.
  • Assigned to another person.
  • Exchanged for cash.
  • Used for another program or institution.

Scholarship Limit

Ellis Co. Dental Assisting Program will award no more than ten (10) scholarships during a calendar year.

Receiving a scholarship is not guaranteed. Scholarship awards are competitive and based on the applicant’s qualifications and the selection criteria established by the program.

Program Rights

Ellis Co. Dental Assisting Program reserves the right, subject to applicable law and contractual obligations, to establish application deadlines, review procedures, selection criteria, and administrative requirements for the scholarship program.

The program also reserves the right to verify information submitted by applicants and to revoke a scholarship award obtained through fraud, falsification, or material misrepresentation.
